SALA 2025: Celebrating Annabel Barrett at Hyde Park
This August, we were proud to once again take part in the South Australian Living Artists (SALA) Festival — a state-wide celebration of creativity that honours the depth and diversity of visual artists working across South Australia.
As part of our involvement, we welcomed the work of Annabel Barrett into our Hyde Park store, transforming our space into a living gallery that reflects our shared values of craftsmanship, materiality, and quiet expression.

To mark the opening of the exhibition, we hosted a warm and intimate evening with our community — an opportunity to slow down, connect, and celebrate Annabel’s creative practice. Guests gathered to view the works up close, enjoy thoughtful conversation, and hear directly from the artist about her inspiration and process.

With a career spanning more than 25 years, Annabel brings both discipline and playfulness to her work. Originally an art educator, she now works exclusively from her studio in Malvern, where she creates pieces that are deeply influenced by the geometry and texture of urban and industrial landscapes. Her use of acrylic and coloured pencil on paper results in works that feel structured yet spontaneous — where colour, line, and form engage in a quiet, compelling dialogue.

Beyond painting, Annabel is also a ceramicist, crafting sculptural vessels and objects in terracotta and white earthenware clay. Her tactile sensibility and curiosity are evident across mediums, inviting the viewer to find beauty in contrast — raw and refined, bold and understated.
We are honoured to share Annabel’s work with our customers during SALA Festival — a time that highlights the power of art to bring people together, to spark reflection, and to enrich everyday life.
Her collection will remain on display in our Hyde Park store throughout August. We invite you to visit, explore, and experience the art in person.
