“It’s so exciting when like–minded people come together and share all things travel. Our Packed to Travel Workshops always morph into an exchange of travel experiences, tips and the best, worst and funniest travel stories.”
Cathy, Workshop Presenter
Our resident Ark wanderer who has travelled the globe, from her early days as a flight attendant and more recently for the love of it. What started out as a one day a week retail role at our Canterbury boutique went on to become an evolving career at The Ark. With Cathy’s expert knowledge and love of travel, it was a perfect fit for her to present our Packed to Travel Workshops that simplify what to wear and how to pack for would be wanderers.
Your take home advice for travellers?
Whether it’s long–haul and lengthy, or short and local, when you travel it’s difficult to let go and leave behind your entire wardrobe. The key is to create cleverly coordinated stylish looks out of fewer pieces. When you are on a holiday, it’s a chance to break with routine and simplify life. That’s what is liberating about travelling.
Is it really possible to pack for a two week overseas trip using a carry–on bag?
Absolutely, you just need to plan ahead, think ‘less is more’, and don’t forget to roll, not fold!
Your dreamiest destination?
It’s so difficult to choose just one from my extensive bucket list.
I would have to say Morocco for its colour and architecture, Iceland for the Northern Lights or India for its vibrancy and culture.
What will you be wearing next time you fly?
I always start with comfortable pants and a crush free top layered with a light knit. A scarf and a throw on trench are my favourite travel companions.
Where to next?
Tuscany, Italy for my niece’s wedding and then to a beautiful little island off the northern tip of Sardinia, La Maddalena to relax and unwind...
